In my studio, I mainly work with ancient art techniques focusing on traditional painting techniques and Iconography from ancient Asia to the Flemish masters and Geometry in the broadest sense. I am also into traditional Moroccan plaster carving, woodworking and hand bookbinding. Based in Switzerland/Germany and the UK, I do mainly research, study and teach.

Miniatures, such as Persian and Mughal miniatures, Miniature books and miniature printing (Intaglio, silkscreen) have my main interest.

I make all my paints, the vast majority of my inks and some pigments myself as well as my canvases and panels. My working method is holistic, I feel a strong connection with everything around me, as part of the infinite universe we are all connected. My work is rooted in the ancient traditions of the masters who practiced them and from whom we can still learn today, respecting their methods, traditions, religions, the materials and nature from which they -and we all- originate. Nothing is meaningless or carelessly created.

I do (literature) research and enjoy my own library of hundreds of books, which I have collected over the years. Meanwhile living next door to a university library with a stunning collection. This reflects in my (themed) newsletters where I also write about iconography, history and traditions. You can subscribe to them at: Patreon.com/PagodaoftheAncientMuse

My aim is to learn as much as possible, pass on my knowledge and skills, contribute to the awareness of Traditional Arts by keeping old practices and wisdom alive.
